Journey to the Dumpling

I was invited to the exclusive soft opening to Journey to the Dumpling located on Laguna Blvd in Elk Grove, CA. My husband and I wanted to support our cousin’s brand new restaurant. Here’s my journey to the dumpling:

It was actually a rainy day when I went. I needed to warm myself up with some tea. They have black tea, genma roasted rice green tea, and chrysanthemum. I always get green tea.

For appetizers, we ordered the salt and pepper calamari and the journey pancakes. The journey pancakes actually have been temporarily taken off the menu. It’s super yummy seafood pancakes. So happy it was on the menu during my visit. If you see it on the menu, you’ve gotta try it!

This is the beef noodle soup. It’s braised beef and bok choy in a beef based broth over thin egg noodles. I was so sad that it had a kick to it at the end. I can’t handle spicy food. I know, I know..I’m such a weak sauce. I really didn’t want to but I had to switch noodle soups with my husband. He ordered the pork chop noodle soup. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a picture of it. He got excited and had already eaten some of it that the dish was no longer picture worthy. But the pork chop was soft, easy to cut, and had a nice crisp to it.

Last, but not least, I can’t forget about their specialty! Xiao long bao (pork soup dumpling). SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD!!!!!!

We ordered a lot of food for just the two of us. For my next visit, I want to try their other dumplings. If you’re ever in the area, come check this place out. Hope you’ll have good journey as much as I did. If not, better!
